ROCK HUDSON ... HOLLYWOOD LEADING MAN TO GAY ICON

Talent agent Henry Wilson had an eye for handsome men, which he made a lucrative living supplying Hollywood with BEEFCAKE during the 1950s and '60s. ROCK HUDSON was the most successful of Wilson's manufactured DREAMBOATS, which included an assemblage of very handsome actors like Tab Hunter, Guy Madison, Troy Donahue, Jeffery Hunter, Rory Calhoun... just to name a few. Wilson was a notorious talent scout that unearthed a great many of his prospects from Gay Bars all over Los Angeles. For exchanges in SEX and potential future earnings, Wilson's dreamboats were groomed into Movie Stars.

Not all of his discoveries were homosexual, but one has to assume that they had to please Wilson one way or another. Wilson spent all of time and money on his Adonis ROCK HUSDON whose name was changed from Roy Fitzgerald. Wilson saw STAR potential in Hudson, which leads to etiquette lessons, TEETH STRAIGHTEN and how to speak properly. Wilson became Hudson's professor Higgins like in MY FAIR LADY. Grooming Hudson paid off turning him into a Mega Movie Star.

SUSPICIONS began to raise about Hudson's SEXUALITY because he didn't seem to link to a particular female. Confidential magazine THREATENS to BLOW THE WHISTLE on Hudson's HOMOSEXUAL past, rumor has it that the MAGAZINE was in possession of some INCRIMINATING photos from one of Rock's tricks, who SOLD them to the magazine. Wilson and the studio were in PANIC mode and decided to save their HOTTEST new star Hudson by spilling DIRT on two others from Wilson's stable of pretty boys. The FIRST one was RORY CALHOUN who had a juvenile record and the other was TAB HUNTER who recently dropped Wilson as his agent. Wilson provided CONFIDENTIAL with lurid accounts of QUEER FROLICS with limp-wristed faggots which removed the smokescreen of Hunter's private life as a HOMOSEXUAL.

Rock Hudson MARRIED Phyllis Gates to avoid any further suspicions. Three years later, Gates filed for divorce on the grounds of mental cruelty. She was PAID $250.00 dollars a month for alimony for ten years. Years later, Gates confessed that the marriage was a FRAUD and that she and Hudson were never intimate. In fact, this arrangement was a LAVENDER MARRIAGE which also concealed her own sexuality as a LESBIAN.

Rumors have it, Hudson became more DISCREET about his sexual conduct and SEEK OUT services of Scotty's Gas Station. The owner Scotty Bowers HOOKED UP  closeted celebrities like Composer Cole Porter, Director George Cukor, Cary Grant, Vincent Price, Edith Pilaf, Katherine Hepburn, Randolph Scott, Spencer Tracy, and of course Rock Hudson with his military buddies. According to Bower's biography, Hudson was a regular customer.

Many years later, Hudson was FACED once again with being OUTED, this time with SECRETLY being MARRIED to Jim Nabors. Absurd, really because gays couldn't marry even famous ones. The rumor started when INVITATIONS were sent from Huntington Beach Gala among friends as a JOKE. The invitations read to WITNESS the MARRIAGE of ROCK HUDSON. And Jim Nabors included the joke that Rock would be taking on Nabors' s TV personality last name becoming ROCK PYLE. Regrettably, what was suppose to stay among friend ended up becoming a smear campaign which ended the friendship between Hudson and Nabors.

Unfortunately for Hudson who was not able to escape being labeled a HOMOSEXUAL after being the POSTER CHILD for AIDS. At age 59, Hudson was one of the first major celebrities to died from the complications of AIDS. before Hudson's death, AIDS was rarely mentioned only regarded as a GAY PLAGUE. After Hudson's death, AIDS awareness was shared with the public about the deadly epidemic. Days after ROCK HUDSON died, Congress set aside funding for the cure of Aids in the sum of 221 Million dollars. Hudson was once quoted after contracting Aids...
" I am not happy that I am sick, I am not happy I have Aids. But if that is helping others, I can at least know that my misfortune has some positive worth."
